BHS Member Center: Chapter Profile - How to Add or Update Chapter Leaders

As the primary means of communication with all chapters, it is a matter of compliance that all chapters update their Member Center profile with their Chapter Leaders. 

The required roles that each chapter should list under their profile are: 

  • Chapter President
  • Chapter Secretary
  • Chapter Treasurer

Other roles that are not a matter of compliance but are required to have:

  • Chapter Immediate Past President
  • Chapter Board Member At Large
  • Chapter Delegate to District

For the other roles and areas listed in the BHS Member Center, it is not required to designate a chapter leader under every role, however, BHS and your district utilize this information to send important updates and communications to those areas. 

Authorized leaders for making changes to chapter level profile information are the Chapter President, Secretary or Treasurer and District President, Secretary or Treasurer.

How to Add a Leader

  1. Login to the BHS Member Center by visiting http://members.barbershop.org  
  2. Utilizing your Username and Password will activate your permissions as a Chapter leader. If you are not listed in the Member Center as one the  roles  above, you will not be able to update/change your chapter leaders...
    1. After logging in, Click Chapters on the left-hand side.
    2. Then, click My Chapters.
    3. Your chapter(s) should display, click on the chapter in which you want to view or edit your chapter leaders.

    Here is an EXAMPLE of what you should see, with your chapter information displayed:

  3. Click on  Leaders towards the left side of your chapter profile. 

  4. By default, your profile will display the Current Leaders of your chapter. You can select the year in which you want to view (including the past or future leaders). 

  5. To Add a Leader to your chapter, select the Add Leader button towards the top right-hand corner. 

  6. Select the role in which you'd like to add to your chapter by using the drop down menu. Once selected, add a Start Date and an End Date. Start Dates are required while End Dates are not required. (This is useful if the role is not term based. i.e. Chorus Director). 

  7. If a leader of your chapter has a specific title that is not included in the standard drop down menu, you can add a Custom Leader to your profile. IMPORTANT NOTE: Though you can add custom leaders, information such as updates and email communications will only be sent to the main function areas/roles listed in the drop down menu! 
  8. After entering the dates, you'll need to start typing the Name or Member ID# of an individual in your chapter. As you type, the system will search for members in your chapter with that name or ID#. 

  9. Select the member that you'd like to add. Then select Save Leader. 

How to Edit an Existing Leader

  1. Login to the BHS Member Center by visiting http://members.barbershop.org  
  2. Utilizing your Username and Password will activate your permissions as a Chapter leader. If you are not listed in the Member Center as one the  roles  above, you will not be able to update/change your chapter leaders...
    1. After logging in, Click Chapters on the left-hand side.
    2. Then, click My Chapters.
    3. Your chapter(s) should display, click on the chapter in which you want to view or edit your chapter leaders.

    Here is an EXAMPLE of what you should see, with your chapter information displayed:

  3. Click on Leaders towards the left side of your chapter profile. 
  4. By default, your profile will display the Current Leaders of your chapter. You can select the year in which you want to view (including the past or future leaders). 
  5. Next to the individual in which you'd like to edit, select the Edit option. 
  6. Make any edits that you'd like to the role, start date, end date, or member then select Save Leader. Note: You cannot delete leaders. However, you can edit the start and end date to reflect the necessary changes.  

How to Download Chapter Leader Roster

  1. Login to the BHS Member Center by visiting http://members.barbershop.org  
  2. Utilizing your Username and Password will activate your permissions as a Chapter leader. If you are not listed in the Member Center as one the  roles  above, you will not be able to update/change your chapter leaders...
    1. After logging in, Click Chapters on the left-hand side.
    2. Then, click My Chapters.
    3. Your chapter(s) should display, click on the chapter in which you want to view or edit your chapter leaders.

    Here is an EXAMPLE of what you should see, with your chapter information displayed:

  3. Click on Leaders towards the left side of your chapter profile. 
  4. By default, your profile will display the Current Leaders of your chapter. 
  5. On the bottom right-hand corner, you can Download Current Leadership or Download Past Leadership in either an MS Excel (CSV) file or PDF.
